  • 2 medium sweet onions (e.g., Vidalia), sliced
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the pie crust into a 9-inch tart pan, pressing it firmly into the edges.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add sliced onions. Cook until translucent and beginning to caramelize.
  3. After about 10 minutes, sprinkle sugar over the onions and add thyme. Continue cooking until golden brown.
