Description

This rich and creamy seafood chowder served in a crusty bread bowl is the ultimate comfort food. Packed with shrimp, crab, and hearty vegetables, it’s a restaurant-quality dish made right at home!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large bread bowls
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 oz crab meat (fresh or canned)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups seafood stock
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 1/2 cup diced carrots
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread Bowls: Slice off the tops of the bread bowls and hollow out the insides. Set aside.
  2. Cook the Vegetables: In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions, celery, and carrots. Sauté until tender, about 5 minutes.
  3. Make the Base: Stir in flour and garlic powder to form a roux. Gradually whisk in seafood stock and heavy cream. Cook until thickened.
  4. Add Seafood: Stir in shrimp and crab meat. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the shrimp are cooked through. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Serve: Ladle the creamy seafood mixture into the bread bowls. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Feel free to swap out shrimp and crab for your favorite seafood, like scallops or lobster.
  • For added flavor, sprinkle shredded cheese on top before serving.
  • The hollowed-out bread can be used for dipping!
