- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
- Assorted holiday icing and sprinkles for decorating
Instructions
- Prep Dough: In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and baking powder. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg, vanilla, and almond extract. Gradually mix in dry ingredients.
- Chill Dough: Cover dough and chill for 30 minutes.
- Preheat & Roll: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut into shapes using cookie cutters.
- Bake: Place cookies on parchment-lined baking sheets and bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool on a wire rack.
- Decorate: Once cool, decorate with icing and sprinkles as desired.
