Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup diced Granny Smith apples
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs (for custard sauce)
  • 1 cup whole milk (for custard sauce)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for custard sauce)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter until fluffy. Gradually add sugar and mix well.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract until blended.
  5. Gradually combine the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, alternating with milk until just mixed.
  6. Fold in diced apples gently.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. For the custard sauce, combine milk and sugar in a saucepan over low heat until warm. Slowly whisk into beaten eggs to avoid scrambling, then cook until thickened.
  9. Serve warm slices of cake drizzled with custard sauce.
