- 1 cup vanilla custard (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 12 ladyfingers or 2 cups cubed pound cake
- Mint leaves (for garnish)
Instructions
- Gently wash the mixed berries and pat dry.
- If making homemade custard, combine 1 cup milk, 3/4 cup sugar, and 3 egg yolks in a saucepan over low heat until thickened (about 10 minutes), stirring continuously.
- In a chilled bowl, whip 1 cup heavy cream with 1/4 cup powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- In a trifle dish, layer half of the ladyfingers/cake at the bottom. Top with half of the custard, followed by half of the mixed berries and half of the whipped cream.
- Repeat layering with remaining ingredients.
- Garnish with mint leaves if using and refrigerate for at least two hours before serving.
