  • 2 cups mixed berries (fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 1 cup vanilla custard (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 ladyfingers or 2 cups cubed pound cake
  • Mint leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Gently wash the mixed berries and pat dry.
  2. If making homemade custard, combine 1 cup milk, 3/4 cup sugar, and 3 egg yolks in a saucepan over low heat until thickened (about 10 minutes), stirring continuously.
  3. In a chilled bowl, whip 1 cup heavy cream with 1/4 cup powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  4. In a trifle dish, layer half of the ladyfingers/cake at the bottom. Top with half of the custard, followed by half of the mixed berries and half of the whipped cream.
  5. Repeat layering with remaining ingredients.
  6. Garnish with mint leaves if using and refrigerate for at least two hours before serving.
