Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (chilled)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 68 tbsp cold water
  • 1 cup jam or chocolate spread (your choice)
  • 1 egg + 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Gradually add cold water until a dough forms. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the dough into two rectangles about 1/8-inch thick.
  4. Spread your chosen filling on one rectangle, leaving space around the edges. Place the second rectangle on top and seal the edges.
  5. Cut small slits on top for steam to escape and brush with egg wash.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
