  • 1/2 cup unsalted brown butter (cooled)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until fluffy.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs, oil, sour cream, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Gradually combine wet and dry mixtures until just combined; avoid over-mixing.
  5. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. For frosting, mix softened cream cheese and cooled brown butter until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar to reach desired consistency.
