Description

American Goulash is the ultimate comfort food, combining tender elbow macaroni with savory ground beef, zesty tomatoes, and a medley of spices. This one-pot dish not only warms your belly but also brings back memories of family gatherings and late-night study sessions with friends. Easy to prepare and customize, American Goulash is perfect for busy weeknights or cozy weekends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup bell peppers, chopped
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups water or broth

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, sauté chopped onions and bell peppers in olive oil until softened (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add ground beef, breaking it apart as it browns (7-10 minutes).
  3. Stir in elbow macaroni, diced tomatoes (with juice), Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and enough water/broth to cover by an inch.
  4. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low and cover. Simmer for about 20 minutes or until pasta is tender.
  5. Let sit covered for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy hot with optional grated cheese on top.
