  • 4 medium Russet potatoes (about 2 lbs), peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup plain breadcrumbs (or panko)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with nonstick spray or butter.
  2. In a large bowl, mix heavy cream, half of the shredded cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared dish and pour half of the cream mixture over them. Repeat with remaining potatoes and cream.
  4. Top with remaining cheese and sprinkle breadcrumbs for added texture.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
