Ingredients
  

For the Pudding Layer
  • 2 cups milk whole milk for creaminess
  • 1 box instant chocolate pudding mix 3.9 oz box
  • 1 cup cream cheese softened at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar sifted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract pure vanilla for best flavor
For the Whipped Topping
  • 2 cups whipped topping thawed if frozen
For the Cookie Crust
  • 24 oz chocolate sandwich cookies such as Oreos, crushed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Easter candy such as chocolate eggs or jelly beans

Method
 

Prepare the Cookie Crust
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a food processor, crush the chocolate sandwich cookies into fine crumbs.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the crushed cookies with melted butter. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated and resemble wet sand.
  4. Press the cookie mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish to form an even crust.
  5. Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, then remove and let cool completely.
Make the Pudding Layer
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk and instant chocolate pudding mix until well combined. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to thicken.
  2. In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
  3. Gently fold the chocolate pudding into the cream cheese mixture until fully combined, creating a smooth and creamy filling.
Assemble the Casserole
  1. Spread the pudding mixture evenly over the cooled cookie crust in the baking dish.
  2. Top the pudding layer with the whipped topping, spreading it evenly to cover the entire surface.
  3. Sprinkle the Easter candy over the whipped topping for a festive look.
Chill and Serve
  1. Cover the casserole with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the layers to set.
