Method
Prepare the Asparagus
- Rinse the asparagus under cold water to remove any dirt. Pat dry with a clean kitchen towel.
- Trim the tough ends of the asparagus. Hold a stalk and bend it gently; it will naturally snap at the right point.
- In a large bowl, combine the asparagus, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Toss until the asparagus is evenly coated.
Grill the Asparagus
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F or 200°C). This ensures a nice char without overcooking.
- Place the asparagus on the grill perpendicular to the grates to prevent them from falling through. Grill for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally.
- The asparagus is done when it is tender and has nice grill marks. Remove from the grill.
Finish and Serve
- Transfer the grilled asparagus to a serving platter.
- Drizzle with fresh lemon juice and sprinkle with lemon zest and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Serve immediately while warm, allowing the cheese to slightly melt over the asparagus.

Notes
For added flavor, consider marinating the asparagus in the olive oil, salt, and pepper for 30 minutes before grilling. This dish pairs well with grilled meats or can be served as a light appetizer.
