Ingredients

For the Salmon
  • 4 fillets salmon skin-on, about 6 oz each
For the Miso Glaze
  • 3 tablespoons white miso paste adds umami flavor
  • 2 tablespoons honey for sweetness
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce for saltiness
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar to balance flavors
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil for added depth
  • 1 clove garlic minced, for aromatic flavor
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated, for spice
For Garnish
  • 2 tablespoons scallions sliced, for freshness
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds toasted, for crunch

Method

Prepare the Miso Glaze
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the white miso paste, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  2. Whisk the ingredients together until smooth and well combined. This glaze will provide a sweet and savory flavor to the salmon.
Prepare the Salmon
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This high temperature will help caramelize the glaze and cook the salmon evenly.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
  3. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Using a spatula, spread the miso glaze generously over the top of each salmon fillet, ensuring they are well coated.
Bake the Salmon
  1. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through.
  2. Keep an eye on it to avoid overcooking; the salmon should remain moist and tender.
Garnish and Serve
  1. Once cooked, remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
  2. Sprinkle the sliced scallions and toasted sesame seeds over the salmon for added flavor and presentation.
  3. Serve the miso glazed salmon with steamed rice and sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

For best results, use fresh salmon fillets. You can also marinate the salmon in the miso glaze for 30 minutes to enhance the flavor before baking.
