  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter (cubed)
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups apples (peeled, cored, and sliced; mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly.
  3. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the baking dish to form the crust.
  4. In another bowl, toss apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice until coated.
  5. Spread the apple filling over the crust and crumble the remaining dough on top.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Cool before cutting into squares.
