- 1 head green cabbage
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 14 oz canned diced tomatoes
- 16 oz tomato sauce
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Boil water in a large pot and blanch 12 cabbage leaves for about 2 minutes until pliable. Drain and cool.
- In a bowl, mix ground meat, cooked rice, onion, half the diced tomatoes, salt, and pepper.
- Place 2 tablespoons of filling at the base of each leaf, fold sides in, and roll tightly.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread some tomato sauce on the bottom of a baking dish and arrange rolls seam-side down.
- Pour remaining tomato sauce over rolls and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
- Cover with foil and bake for about an hour. Remove foil for the last 10 minutes to crisp tops.
