Ingredients

  • 14 oz firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu by wrapping it in a towel and placing a heavy object on top for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes and toss in cornstarch until well-coated.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the coated tofu cubes for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and crispy, flipping occasionally.
  4. In another pan, combine orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and sesame oil. Simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Toss the crispy tofu cubes in the sauce until evenly coated.
  6. Serve immediately garnished with sesame seeds or sliced green onions.
