- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 1 cup whole milk (warm)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 large eggs
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. In another bowl, mix melted butter, warm milk, eggs, orange zest, and juice until blended. Combine wet and dry ingredients.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl and let rise for about an hour until doubled.
- Punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle. Cut strips and tie each into knots.
- Place knots on a greased baking sheet and let rise again for 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
