With simple ingredients and straightforward steps, you’ll impress your family and friends while enjoying the delightful crunch of homemade fried shrimp.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Vegetable oil for frying (about 1 cup)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Rinse shrimp and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Set up a breading station: In one bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. In another bowl, beat the eggs until blended.
  3. Coat each shrimp in the egg mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture until fully covered. Shake off excess flour.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  5. Fry shrimp in batches for about 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. Do not overcrowd the pan.
  6. Drain cooked shrimp on paper towels and serve immediately with dipping sauce.
