With its creamy texture, rich vanilla flavor, and a hint of cinnamon, this delightful dessert serves as the perfect ending to any meal or a cozy breakfast option. Simple to make, it’s sure to become a family favorite for gatherings or quiet nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup short-grain rice (Arborio or sushi)
  • 4 cups whole milk (or almond milk)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cinnamon stick (or 1 tsp ground cinnamon)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water to remove excess starch.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine rinsed rice, milk, sugar, and salt. Stir gently and bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  3. Once boiling, add the cinnamon stick and vanilla extract, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for about 20 minutes while stirring occasionally until the rice is tender and most milk is absorbed.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in butter until melted. Discard the cinnamon stick before serving.
