Description

Ingredients

  • 8 cups stale bread (cubed)
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage (crumbled)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 1 bell pepper (diced)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the crumbled sausage for about 5-7 minutes. Transfer it to a bowl.
  3. Sauté the chopped onion and diced bell pepper in the same skillet until tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
  5. Layer half of the stale bread cubes in the baking dish, followed by half of the sausage, sautéed veggies, and cheese. Repeat layering with remaining ingredients.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layers and gently press down with a fork.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for about 45 minutes or until set and golden brown.
